Ah Vin Jacob “Jake” Zane, 80, of Kapaau, formerly of Honolulu, died May 24 at home. Born in Niulii, North Kohala, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, member and retiree of the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 3 and member of Kohala Lions Club, North Kohala National Alumni (Veterans), Kohala Senior Athletic Club, Kohala Senior Citizen Program, Tong Wo Society of Kohala, Al Lyman Invitational bowling club and Sacred Hearts Church Choir in Hawi. He was also Hawaii County Office of Aging’s Outstanding Older American for 2009. Visitation 8 a.m.-9:45 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
